Mentorship Session Diary. Entry 06 (March 19th)
Money can be a tricky topic with varying opinions across the board. At the same time, financial literacy is important for youth trying to navigate their environment and progress in their careers. Firstly, we should start by looking at our mindset about money. We can set up roadblocks for ourselves just by having misconceptions or misguided feelings about having or making money. Often people can have thoughts that going after money makes you a bad person, that earning money always involves doing things you don’t enjoy, or that putting in the work will never earn you the return you want.
We can overcome some mental roadblocks just by thinking differently. Never be afraid of going after success. We should always think of ourselves as deserving of success. Earning money and success isn’t selfish when we use what we have to give back and help others. The people’s expectations of us sometimes cause us to have doubt, but we should never let those expectations become our reality. We can always fight for our cause and work hard to achieve our goals.
