The conversation about missed opportunities will always include our personal life. Whether we recognize it or not, our attitudes, our relationships, our decisions in our personal life will always spillover into our professional life as well. Missing opportunities can cause us to feel like we have gaps that are difficult to replace. Focusing on maintaining positive attitudes and strong relationships in our personal lives will permeate into everything we do and help us to make the most of any situation we find ourselves in.
Carrying forward emotions like guilt, anger and disappointment about situations we wish had happened differently, especially in personal relationships, can cause us to feel apprehensive and nervous about handling these things in the future. Sometimes if we feel hurt or disrespected it can be difficult to handle and difficult to move forward from. It can be hard to accept the actions of those around us when they aren’t what we expect. It is important for us to accept people for who they are, not who we expect them to be. Forgiveness and acceptance can help us heal and move on from tough situations or relationships and allow us to build a more positive outlook for ourselves and for those around us. Negative emotions will often influence us to act poorly and bring down others, instead of making choices to bring ourselves and everyone around us up.
Strong relationships are built with honesty, communication and effort with the people we care about and who care about us. When we to listen to people who don’t have our best interest at heart, or just don’t have the right perspective, we can internalize negative thoughts, judgements and labels about ourselves that are not accurate. We may begin to hold ourselves back and create barriers for ourselves that don’t actually exist.
Trying to maximize our potential and avoid missing opportunities that could benefit us, starts with belief in ourselves. Our internal dialogue and the things we choose to believe about ourselves can be so powerful. When we are able to control our own emotions and attitudes, we can choose to reinforce our own positivity while challenging negative thoughts that hold us back. By starting with belief in ourselves, we will begin to manifest our energy and potential into the world around us.
