What do all successful people have in common? Before they were able to reach security in their finances, their career, their own being, they had help. As young adults we’re in an awkward phase in life where your parents aren’t there to hold your hand every step of the way, however, you don’t necessarily have everything quite figured out yet. For many of us, as we navigate this new phase of our lives, it is difficult to admit when we're in over our heads, and it is easy to forget that it is normal not to know what to do at every moment.

We as a collective are in a unique position, as we have two magic words at our disposal: 'help me'. Teams are equipped to aid you in every facet of life; all you need to do is ask.

However, asking is the first step. What you do with the help that is provided is what makes the difference between stagnancy and elevation. The advice that is given, the training that is provided, serve as bricks but if you do not strap on your boots and build your future there is no amount of help that can get you to where you need to go. Continue to move forward. Forge your path with the bricks that were gifted to you and whenever it is that you reach the destination that you’ve intended, remember to give some bricks to those that are still building.

Free Verse:

Spent

I’m spent going to this place and that

Talking to this person

Reading this textbook

I’m spent

Get up

Wake up

Go to class

Go to work

I’m spent

Come here

Go there

They need me but I’m spent

Done

Tired

What other words can I use to convey how depleted I feel

I pour and pour

Give and give

But there’s nothing coming in

Nothing being deposited back

This tank is empty

I’m spent

Can’t walk
