Student Mentorship Session Recap

What brings you joy?
It's a simple question, but one we don't always stop to consider. Following up on a previous conversation around joy and self-discovery, students continued exploring what energizes them and how their passions and talents shape who they are.
Led by Geoff from One Voice One Team, this mentorship session was a reminder that growth isn't about being perfect. Here are five takeaways from the conversation.
1. Revisit the Things That Genuinely Make You Happy
When the students were asked what brings them joy, the answers sparked memories of hobbies and interests that had been pushed aside. Sometimes, the first step is simply remembering what lights you up.
2. Schedule Time for Joy
Knowing what brings you joy is one thing, but making time for it is another. Whether it's once a week or just a few minutes a day, treating joy like a priority instead of an afterthought can make all the difference.
3. You Don't Have to Be Good at Something to Enjoy It
Too often, we convince ourselves that if we're not naturally talented, it's not worth doing. But joy isn't about being the best. It's about doing something because it makes you feel good.
4. Understand the Difference Between Passion and Talent
Talent is what we're good at, but passion is what keeps us motivated. They don't always go hand in hand, and that's perfectly okay.
5. Share Your Passions with Others
The session wrapped up with a simple reminder: share your passions with others. You never know who you might inspire by doing what you love.
