Meet Allen Chen, a graduate of the University of Toronto's Sociology program and a member of our PinballBURSARY Class of 2026.

Through his determination, hard work, and commitment to his education, Allen has reached an important milestone in his academic journey. His dedication and perseverance have helped him achieve success and prepare for the opportunities that lie ahead.

I would not have been able to finish university without the support of the foundation. During my studies, I was thrown a major curveball and faced serious health issues. It was incredibly difficult trying to manage my health, seek treatment, balance my finances, and maintain stable housing all at the same time while continuing school.
Because I live on my own, the Pinball Foundation was really the only support system I had. The foundation never gave up on me. Whenever I struggled, they were there to help and support me through some of the hardest periods of my life. The bursary greatly eased my financial burdens. It allowed me to focus on my education and recovery without constantly worrying about whether I would have a roof over my head or enough food to eat. The mentors were also there to offer guidance, advice, and support whenever I needed it. Getting this scholarship was the best thing that's ever happened to me and allowed me to have a future, for that I am grateful beyond words.

We are incredibly proud of Allen and all that he has accomplished. As he embarks on his next chapter, we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

Congratulations, Allen!
