Meet Tamia Gordon, a graduate of George Brown College's Social Service Worker program and a member of our PinballBURSARY Class of 2026.
Tamia's commitment to supporting individuals and strengthening communities reflects the compassion, resilience, and dedication that define the social services profession. Through her education and hard work, she has built a strong foundation for a meaningful career focused on helping others and creating positive change.
This scholarship has opened many doors for me by providing valuable networking opportunities, new experiences, and meaningful connections. It has also been a major blessing, supporting my educational journey and motivating me to continue striving toward my academic and personal goals. Most importantly, I met amazing people who I now consider family.
This program helped me move closer toward my career aspirations by exposing me to valuable opportunities, professional connections, and real-world experiences.
One memorable experience I had through this program was at the 2025 You(th) Lead Conference, where I connected with one of the mentors on a very personal level. We were able to relate to each other through our cultural beliefs, upbringing, and some of the hardships we both experienced growing up. It was an emotional and inspiring moment for me because I saw someone who truly understood where I came from and had still gone on to become very successful. That experience felt like both a sign and a source of motivation, encouraging me to keep pushing myself toward my fullest potential.
“Never give up. Keep going.”
We are proud to celebrate Tamia's accomplishments and recognize this important milestone in her journey.
Congratulations, Tamia!
