A meaningful connection can be the first step toward a new opportunity.

On October 17, the Pinball Foundation brought together current students, alumni, industry professionals and corporate partners at the Park Hyatt Toronto for the You(th) Lead Conference, a day focused on mentorship, career exploration and building connections that open doors.

As we celebrate 20 years of impact, this year's conference reflected a key part of our mission: helping young people build the confidence, professional networks and access to opportunities they need to succeed in the workforce.

From conversations with experienced professionals to opportunities to explore different career paths, this You(th) Lead was about helping young people see what's possible for their futures and connecting them with people who can help them get there.

Building Connections that Open Doors

Finding your place in the professional world isn't always easy, especially when you're just starting out. For many young people, access to professional networks, industry insights and career guidance can make all the difference. That's where You(th) Lead comes in.

Throughout the conference, students and alumni connected with professionals from a diverse range of industries, including banking and financial services, marketing and sales, insurance, technology, retail, food and beverage, and more. These conversations gave participants firsthand insight into different career paths, workplace experiences and the skills needed to succeed across various sectors.

Through mentorship and networking conversations, participants had the opportunity to ask questions, share their aspirations and learn directly from people who have navigated their own professional journeys.

These conversations went beyond traditional career advice. They helped young people build confidence, expand their networks and discover opportunities they may not have otherwise known existed.

For our mentors and corporate partners, the day was also an opportunity to meet emerging talent, hear fresh perspectives and connect with the next generation of professionals.

Because sometimes, one conversation is all it takes to open a new door.

Connecting Mentorship to Career Possibilities

At the Pinball Foundation, we recognize that preparing young people for the workforce is only one part of building a successful career. Having access to professional networks, industry connections, and people willing to share their knowledge is just as important.

You(th) Lead Conference helps bridge that gap.

By bringing together young people and professionals from across different sectors, the conference creates an environment where career aspirations meet real-world insight.

For students exploring their options, these conversations offer a better understanding of the opportunities available to them, including career paths they may not have previously considered and the different journeys people take to get there. For alumni entering or navigating the workforce, they provide opportunities to strengthen professional relationships, gain perspective and expand their networks.

Just as importantly, the conference gives industry professionals a chance to connect with talented, motivated young people who are preparing to make their mark in the world.

While the impact of these connections may not always be immediate, a conversation today can become a valuable professional relationship, a future introduction or an opportunity down the road. It's these connections that make You(th) Lead so meaningful.

Mentorship That Goes Beyond the Conference

One of the most powerful things about You(th) Lead is that its impact doesn't have to end when the day is over.

A conversation can lead to a new professional connection. A mentor's advice can help someone approach an interview with greater confidence. An introduction can open the door to an industry or career path they hadn't previously considered. This is the magic behind mentorship.

Our mentors and corporate partners play an important role in helping young people navigate the transition from education to employment, offering guidance, encouragement and valuable insight into the professional world.

By sharing their experiences, answering questions and taking a genuine interest in the aspirations of our youth, they help build a community where young people feel supported as they pursue their goals.

And for our students and alumni, You(th) Lead Conference is an opportunity to recognize that they don't have to navigate their career journeys alone.

Thank You for Helping Open Doors

A heartfelt thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, The Alpay Family, and our Breakfast Sponsor, Sysco Canada, for their generous support in making this year's You(th) Lead Conference possible.

To our mentors, corporate partners and volunteers, thank you for investing your time, sharing your experiences and helping create meaningful connections for the next generation.

And to our students and alumni, thank you for showing up with curiosity, ambition, and a willingness to learn, connect and explore new possibilities.

These conversations may have started at You(th) Lead, but we're excited to see where those connections lead next.
