Madam C.J. Walker

How does this person inspire you?

Madame CJ Walker was the first African American SELF MADE* millionaire. She inspires me because her rise came during the 20th century; an era where racism was a major issue worldwide for our people.

She rose above it all with her head held high despite the countless attempts to bring her down. Her favourite quote was “I got my start by giving myself a start”. The odds were stacked against her before she was even born; she became a orphan and mother at a young age. A true believer that life is what you make it.

Like most Black females today, Madame Walker went through hell and back, but that doesn't stop us from being strong! She never let the stress that comes with being a Black female AND an entrepreneur determine or hinder the greatness God had in store for her life.

For that Madame Walker will FOREVER hold a place in my heart.

I respect and salute her. RIP TO A QUEEN.
